To buy a 370z with low miles and just strip it down. I read a build thread awhile ago and haven't been able to forget about it since. They totally stripped an new Z and did some suspension work. And they were beating GTRs and Porsches at the track with ease. On the stock engine. They got the weight down to I believe like 2800 or so.

I approve. Despite any bad things people say about the newer Z cars I've always had a soft spot for them.

I wouldn't like to daily a car that had a cage in it from a safety point of view buy other than that hell yeah. Be an awesome ride.

That's 400 pounds of fat trimmed, pretty impressive. With that V6 and similar weight to the BRZ/FR-S, I'm sure it'd make for a good track weapon.

Wouldnt it be safer? Lol with a race harness?

Yeah its be amazingly fun I believe. And I don't have the most mechanical skill. So stripping a car might be better for me than building one up lol

That's pretty damn impressive actually. 1280kg is rather light for a modern car of that size.

I wonder how light you could get an F-Type V6S...

It can often be more dangerous with no helmet which you obviously wouldnt wear day to day. Easy to crack your head on the cage in a crash especially since all of the airbags are removed.

Stripping a car is a great way to learn how to build one up, really. Tons of internals are hidden behind polished interiors.

Now it's even more intriguing lol I really should do this. I'm sure my girlfriend would hate it. And my finances. But I'd love this thing.

Pretty much anyone but the owner will hate a stripped car, since they're purpose built machines. Just delete the passenger seats, problem solved.

I use to have such a hard time wrapping my mind around it, granted he bought the car back when it was still just a few years old. But, it is a proper good car as a track-toy. Plenty of power, wheelbase is semi-short and teaches you how to manage weight transfer a bit better, and it's a pretty easy car to mod and keep-up with in regards to repairs (read as: many things don't break).

I want one as well now, so it definitely leaves an impression.

Depending on the car yes and no. He felt that way at first too, but he has told me time and time again that his seat time is more valuable than the car. There are videos of him losing to a Porsche 916, not sure if they're on youtube or not, but he said it was a driver's battle and he lost that round. So it definitely has potential, but I'd just buy one, leave it fairly stock at first, and then feel what it really needs as you go along.

Have you ever watched "Love the Beast"? If not, you might watch it as it kind of portrays the message I'm trying to get across. A track car built to be a track car will never perform in my opinion as once that was bred and evolved to be a track car. Every driver has their own persona and the car needs to meet that.
